EVA also known as Ethylene vinyl acetate is copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. EVA is an extremely elastic material with the ability to retain its toughness even when sintered to form a porous material like rubber. It is used as a packaging sealant for meat and dairy products, footwear, and cable insulation.
EVA provides low-temperature heat sealing which results in energy savings and faster packaging speeds. EVA also exhibits excellent impact strength, puncture resistance, and adhesion. These properties make it a preferred option over rubber and vinyl products for a wide range of applications.
Properties:
It offers the following advantages:
• Energy Saving: Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer resins can be heat sealed at low-temperature which results in energy savings and fast packaging speeds
• High elasticity: Soft and extremely elastic yet tough
• Good clarity: High transparency with little or no odour
• Versatility: It is waterproof, stays tough at low temperatures, displays high impact and stress resistance, and is three times as flexible as LDPE
Product Types:
• EVA is segmented into four types on the basis of density:
• Very low density (VLEVA)
• Low density (LEVA)
• Medium density (MEVA)
• High density (HEVA)
Applications:
• Beverage plastic caps that provide excellent seals and are easy to open or peel off
• Excellent packaging for dairy and cheese products, snacks, meat, poultry, seafood, and ready-meal items.
• Top of the line soccer cleats
• Adhesives, sealants, molding, compounding, extrusion and wax blends
• Biomedical engineering applications as a drug delivery device
• Jacketing compounds for automotive ignition and low-smoke cables
• Strippable semi-conductive shields for power cables
