A Cashew nut (Anacardium Occidentale) in its natural form is attached to the fruit (Cashew apple). It comprises of a hard kidney shaped outer shell and a soft white kernel inside. The Cashew kernel is consumed all over the world as a snack or used as a food ingredient.

Major Producers: Brazil, India Nigeria, Vietnam, Benin, Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau.

Uses: Cashew nuts are a popular and nutritious food source. They are consumed as snacks, or in the making of soups, stew, and desserts. They are also used to make Cashew oil used for cooking or salad dressing, and also Cashew shell oil used for medicinal purposes.
